Crux Advice and Accounting was founded by Michael Parker and Nathan Silcock in 2018. Over 4 years Michael and Nathan grew the firm to a team of 10, winning national awards and becoming Nelson-Tasman’s fastest growing accounting and advisory firm. In 2023 Crux merged with MMCA to form Go Accounting.

  • Michael co-founded Crux with Nathan in 2018.

    Prior to forming Crux, Michael worked for a mid-sized local accounting firm WK Strawbridge as an Associate Principal in the business advisory space. He has also worked for the international accounting firm Deloitte (in both NZ and the UK).

    Michael has worked with various clients in a virtual CFO capacity, utilising his extensive knowledge and experience in strategic planning, profit improvement, risk management and business valuations to help his clients to grow and improve their business and to build resilience.

    Outside of work Michael enjoys spending time with his wife Hannah, son Archer and daughter Bella. Michael and Hannah also own a local fashion retail and e-commerce business, Palm Boutique.

Nathan Silcock

  • Nathan co-founded Crux with Michael in 2018.

    Prior to forming Crux, Nathan worked for a mid-sized local accounting firm Strawbridge & Associates as a Principal in the business advisory space.  He has also worked for the international accounting firm PwC as a senior consultant specialising in general tax consultancy and international tax.

    In addition to his commerce degree, Nathan also has a law degree and admission to the bar.

    Nathan has extensive experience working with small and mid-market businesses as a virtual CFO. In this role, Nathan focuses on helping his clients to manage their businesses more effectively to achieve their underlying personal goals – whether those goals are financial, lifestyle or otherwise. Nathan also puts his specialist tax knowledge to good use, providing tax consultancy and planning services as well as business and personal structuring advice.

    Outside of work, Nathan enjoys spending time with his wife Marie and their two young boys Ethan and Tommy. As a family, they enjoy being active and spending time outdoors biking and tramping. They also try to head away to Hanmer Springs for a relaxing holiday once or twice each year.
